What are Enzymes?

By definition, enzymes are catalysts, substances that cause a chemical reaction to move faster. For example, air is a catalyst for fire. You can make the fire in a fire place burn faster by fanning it. Enzymes are the catalysts of chemical reaction in living organisms. that includes the formation, breakdown and rearranging of molecules to provide organisms with the energy and materials needed to live and function. Without enzymes, these reactions would occur far too slowly for proper metabolism. (note: Metavolism is the total number of chemical reaction that occur in living things to maintain life.)

What are Enzymes made out of?

Enzymes are made up of amino acids. Generally speaking a combination of amino acids is called a protein. Many refer to enzymes as unique proteins that are biologically active or contain energy. It is this energy that makes it possible for enzymes to perform the work of life.
